In a newly released deleted scene from Thor: The Dark World, Loki (Tom Hiddleston) finally gets what he always wanted — the throne of Asgard, the people, and Thor’s hammer. Too bad it’s all in his head.

While imprisoned in Asgard for attacking New York City in The Avengers, Thor’s trickster brother cast an illusion that saw himself taking the throne in a grand coronation. You’ll notice the scene isn’t fully complete; many of the visual effects aren’t fleshed out and Rene Russo’s Frigga is inserted in the scene through title cards.

“Does all this make you feel better?” she asks. “Cast enough illusions and you risk forgetting what is real.” Loki replies, “Precisely,” as the scene blurs into the full mother-son visitation scene from the film.
