Harry Potter and the Cursed Child play casts Jamie Parker, Noma Dumezweni, Paul Thornley

Harry, Ron, and Hermione have been found. Again.

Jamie Parker, Noma Dumezweni and Paul Thornley have been cast as Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley in the upcoming stage play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, the much-anticipated Potter sequel which will hit London’s Palace Theatre in the summer of 2016. The trio will lead a company of over 30 actors, to be announced at a later date.

Rowling released a statement about the casting to Pottermore: “I’m so excited with the choice of casting for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. I can’t wait to see Jamie, Noma and Paul bring the adult Harry, Hermione and Ron to life on stage next summer.”

All three actors are proper British stage stars: Parker, currently appearing in Guys and Dolls, is also an original cast member of The History Boys (along with Potter actor Richard Griffiths); Dumezweni is an Olivier winner for her role in A Raisin in the Sun and will make her directing debut next February; Thornley has appeared in numerous films (including Les Miserables and the upcoming Grimsby) and London productions including London Road, Noises Off, It’s a Wonderful Life and The Three Musketeers.

Cursed Child is a new stage play about the life of Harry Potter 19 years after the events of Deathly Hallows. The play, from a story by J.K. Rowling, Jack Thorne, and John Tiffany, follows an adult Harry and his youngest son, Albus, as he grapples with coming into his identity as the son of the world’s most famous wizard.

The play — one play, presented in two parts — will begin performances in London on June 7, 2016. Tickets are booking through May 2017.
