It’s hard to avoid Mark Ruffalo these days. If he isn’t starring as the Hulk in a new blockbuster Marvel movie, he’s putting in critically-acclaimed performances in movies like Spotlight and Foxcatcher. Despite this, Ruffalo told Jimmy Fallon on Thursday that his children place severe limits on which of his movies they’re willing to watch.

“They said, ‘We don’t want to see you playing anyone else’s father, and we don’t want to see you playing anyone else’s husband,'” Ruffalo said, to the accompaniment of an audience-wide “awww.”

To help Ruffalo find a performance his children might watch, Fallon dug up the actor’s Clearasil ad from 1989. The commercial features Ruffalo, in a wordless role as a young street kid with acne.

“After I was hired, the director said, ‘Yeah I really liked what you did, because you just seem like you came right off the street, you don’t know how to act at all'” Ruffalo remembered.
