Mexican actress Kate del Castillo has posted her first statement about actor Sean Penn’s meeting with drug lord Joaquín Guzmán Loera, better known as “El Chapo,” on Twitter. In her short message, del Castillo expresses gratitude for her supporters, but also notes that she intends to reveal her side of the story.

“Not surprisingly, many have chosen to make up items they think will make good stories and that aren’t truthful,” she wrote. “I look forward to sharing my story with you.”

The post sparked a flood of reactions from those following the story of El Chapo’s secret interviews with Sean Penn, which, Penn revealed in his Rolling Stone interview, were arranged with the help of del Castillo, whom El Chapo admires and had been working with for a movie about his life.

Del Castillo is well known for appearing in popular telenovelas like La Reina del Sur, a drama about a female drug lord that has been picked up for an American version called Queen of the South, set to debut in 2016.

Penn has already arranged an interview with Charlie Rose to talk about the subject, but del Castillo’s involvement still draws questions. After she posted her message, one follower wondered how much the actress had to do with the drug trafficker’s capture:

Others, however, tweeted messages of support for the actress:

Del Castillo has yet to follow up on her Twitter post. El Chapo was recaptured on Jan. 8, thanks in part, according to authorities, to his interviews with Penn.
