Jackson Browne paid tribute to the late Glenn Frey earlier this week by performing Eagles hit “Take it Easy” — which Browne himself co-wrote with Frey in the early ’70s — at a Jan. 19 show in Clearwater, Florida.

“Here’s a song that I’ve been singing every night for a while here,” Browne said as he introduced the song, according to a fan-shot video from the concert. “I didn’t always used to sing it, because it was such a famous song. I figured, you know, people heard me start singing this song, they come away thinking, ‘Yeah, and then he sang an Eagles cover!'”

“I wrote this song with Glenn Frey,” he went on. “It was a song that I started and didn’t know how to finish. I do know that if I had finished it by myself, it wouldn’t be the song that it is and it wouldn’t be the song that we all love.”
