The Passion musical: Seal cast in live Fox event

Fox’s upcoming live musical event The Passion has added Seal to its roster.

The Grammy Award-winning singer will play Pontius Pilate, joining Jencarlos Canela (Jesus Christ), Chris Daughtry (Judas), Trisha Yearwood (Mary), Prince Royce (the disciple Peter), and host Tyler Perry.

Set in New Orleans, The Passion will be a modern-day retelling of Jesus as he presides over the Last Supper, is betrayed by Judas, and put to trial by Pontius Pilate. The Passion is written by Peter Barsocchini (High School Musical) and will be told through Bible passages and contemporary popular music arranged by Adam Anders (Glee).

The Passion will be Fox’s second live musical event, following Grease: Live, which premiered to positive reviews and strong ratings.

The Passion will air Sunday, March 20, 8 p.m. ET on Fox.
