After weeks of speculation that The Good Wife could be coming to an end — sparked by the announcement that showrunners Robert and Michelle King wouldn’t return if the show were renewed — CBS aired a commercial during the Super Bowl that officially announced that The Good Wife‘s seventh season would be its last.

For die-hard fans of the show, the announcement is arguably the second=most shocking thing the show’s ever done. The most shocking thing the show’s done will forever be killing Will Gardner in season 5, but the good news is that Josh Charles has nothing but love for his former show.

The former Good Wife star — and Will Gardner himself — tweeted his congratulations to the show after the announcement, saying he’s proud to have been a part of the show to begin with.

The Good Wife airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET.
