Perry (Ewan McGregor) was just trying to enjoy a vacation in Marrakech when a powerful, elusive Russian oligarch named Dima (Stellan Skarsgård) asked him to drinks — and to get involved in his dangerous plan to seek asylum from British intelligence. Certainly makes that time you got food poisoning on your summer holiday seem relaxing, huh?

This is what happens in the trailer for Our Kind of Traitor, an upcoming thriller based on Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy writer John le Carré’s 2010 novel of the same name about a British teacher who embeds himself in Dima’s life as a spy at the request — or, as it appears in the trailer, the insistence — of British intelligence.

The film, directed by Susanna White with a screenplay by Hossein Amini, also stars Billions’ Damian Lewis and Spectre‘s Naomie Harris and arrives in the U.K. May 6. Watch the trailer above.
