AMC’s first trailer for its upcoming miniseries The Night Manager, based on the novel by master spy writer John le Carré, is all glamour, arms-dealing, and espionage.

The event, which premieres on April 19, is a six-part series that tells the story of Jonathan Pine (Tom Hiddleston), a drifter and hotelier who becomes wrapped up in the world of spies and very bad men, namely the arms dealer Richard Roper (Hugh Laurie).

When EW spoke with Hiddleston for our first look at the miniseries, the actor joked that the shoot — which took the crew to four different countries over the course of 75 days — brought him and his costar close together.

“[Laurie] can’t address me by my real name,” Hiddleston said. “I sign off emails to him as ‘Pine,’ and he addresses me as ‘Pine.’ I don’t know why, but it makes us laugh.”
