Morgan Freeman stares down the face of evil in London Has Fallen exclusive

The best job security for any movies president is to have Morgan Freeman as vice president. Seriously, no evildoer would opt to deal with the man who stared down an extinction-level event (Deep Impact), who soothed racial tensions at a crucial moment in history (Invictus), and whose God-like voice can make grown men cry with one word (“Zihuatanejo”).

So pity the dastardly terrorist in London Has Fallen who decides that the American president (Aaron Eckhart) must die with Freeman’s VP, Allan Trumbull, waiting in the wings. All the world’s leaders are in London for the funeral of the British prime minister, and Gerard Butler’s Secret Service hero Mike Banning is the first to recognize that a massive assassination conspiracy is in the works. For the terrorist, Barkawi (Alon Moni Aboutboul), his attack is personal, and he wants the head of the American president, who’s unaccounted for after the first wave of explosions cripple the British capital and kill several world leaders.

In this exclusive scene from the sequel to Olympus Has Fallen, the action, violence, and heroics of the film take a backseat to the soothing comfort and quiet confidence of Morgan Freeman playing the now-in-charge Vice President. Good luck, insane third-world arms dealer who’s killed more people “than the Plague”; your death will be narrated with stoic eloquence and America will elect Morgan Freeman to two more terms. U-S-A! U-S-A!

London Has Fallen, directed by Babak Najafi (Easy Money II: Hard to Kill), opens in theaters on March 4.
