According to Nathan Lane, who plays defense lawyer F. Lee Bailey on The People v. O.J. Simpson, the American Crime Story series is “a tremendous production” with one major distraction.

“The only distraction was John Travolta‘s eyebrows,” he told Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show. “Don’t get me wrong, it’s a brilliant performance and he’s literally the nicest guy in the world to work with, and the eyebrows look exactly like [Simpson’s defense attorney] Robert Shapiro’s, but they were big, they were jurassic.”

He didn’t stop there. “I believe they were on loan from the Groucho Marx estate. It looked like two chipmunks climbed up on his forehead and quietly died. One day during lunch I’m pretty sure I heard one of them bark. It was scary. It was scary, ladies and gentlemen.”

Travolta told EW that he had been approached numerous times in the past to take on a TV role, but what sold him on American Crime Story was “more that it was going to be an echo of how it changed society.”

Lane continued joking with Fallon, “I’m so happy for the success of the show because anything that helps America to learn more about the Kardashians is all right with me.”

The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story airs Tuesdays at 10 p.m. on FX.
