Casey Wilson is rejoining comedic forces with ABC.

The Happy Endings alum has been cast as the lead of the single-camera comedy pilot Hail Mary, EW has learned. The pilot, which is being written and executive produced by The McCarthys creator Brian Gallivan, centers on Mary Wolf, a young mayor of a small town who has to contend with dysfunctional siblings, a terminally ill father, cranky citizens, and the mafia. Also, the town is almost bankrupt. “Only a miracle can help her,” reads the show’s logline, “so she fakes one.”

Hail Mary is based on the hit Australian series Braunschlag, with a twist: The original show featured a male mayor. An adaptation was also developed last year at Fox, with Rob Riggle in the lead role. A co-production between Sony Pictures Television and ABC Studios, Hail Mary is also exec-produced by Seth Gordon (The Goldbergs) and Tariq Jalil (Operation Repo).

Wilson has been busy since Happy ended. She’s starred in the short-lived NBC romantic comedy Marry Me, as well as The Hotwives of Orlando and The Hotwives of Las Vegas. Wilson, who will guest star later this month on Grey’s Anatomy, has also popped up on The League and Drunk History. She also co-hosts the Bitch Sesh: A Real Housewives Breakdown podcast.

It’s been a fruitful pilot season for Happy Endings alums: Zachary Knighton has been cast in another ABC comedy pilot, Pearl, while Adam Pally is starring in a Fox time-travel comedy pilot, and Eliza Coupe is set to lead Hulu’s Future Man.
