In a Producers-themed spoof of Donald Trump’s campaign, Jimmy Kimmel’s post-Oscars special imagined a horrible, dystopian future-past in which the former Apprentice host was a legitimate frontrunner for president. … Wait.

“Trumped,” starring Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick, follows the same beats as the 2005 film, which was adapted from the 2001 Broadway musical, which was itself an adaptation of the 1968 Mel Brooks film of the same name. In this version, however, Bialystock (Lane) and Bloom (Broderick) are political consultants instead of accountants. Their goal is to raise money for the “worst candidate in history” and make off with the profits once their mark sinks in the polls; they find their “schmuck,” their “putz,” their “grade-A, world-class nincompoop” in one Donald J. Trump, but their plan backfires when Trump, against all odds, actually appeals to “fiscal conservatives, the religious right, [and] crazy, old, semi-racist white people.”

But, asks Bialystock, have they done enough to tank Trump’s campaign? “Did he question John McCain’s war heroism?” “Did he say we should forcibly kick out 11 million immigrants?” “Did he promise to ban Muslims from entering the U.S.?” And lastly, “Did he say Heidi Klum was no longer a 10?” The answers, of course, are all in the affirmative.

And so, despite Bialystock and Bloom’s best efforts, Trump’s campaign becomes a rousing success in a story that “starts off funny, and then gets really, really depressing.” Check it out below.
