Batman v Superman: Jared Leto's Joker, Riddler almost in Dawn of Justice says Zack Snyder

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice already features Wonder Woman, Lex Luthor, and Doomsday, but the film almost featured two other famous DC supervillains.

In a recent interview with Collider, director Zack Snyder said “the Joker and The Riddler both came close to being in this movie.” He continued, “We talked about the possibility of putting them in. [Screenwriter] Chris Terrio and I talked about it a lot and felt that their mythological presence is felt in the movie, and that’s cool, but I didn’t want to get my eye too far off the ball because I needed to spend the time, frankly, with Batman and Superman to understand the conflict.”

Jared Leto will make his debut as the Joker in David Ayer’s Suicide Squad later this year, but there will be teases to the character in Batman v Superman, including the graffiti-stained Robin costume in the Batcave.

“You can extrapolate that if Batman kept his suit like that, it’s a reminder,” Geoff Johns, chief creative officer for DC Entertainment, told EW. “He’s displayed the suit of a fallen ally, fallen friend in the center of the Batcave. It’s right there for a reason, and part of it is to fuel him to continue to do what he does.”

Elsewhere, Jena Malone plays one of a slew of characters cut from the PG-13 theatrical release, but will be revealed in the R-rated “Ultimate Edition,” Snyder told EW.

“There’s a couple, like, Ahman Green, the running back from the Green Bay Packers, he’s in it. And C.T. Fletcher is like this bodybuilder muscle-guru from Compton, this awesome guy. He’s amazing, and he’s in it,” he said. “And then there’s just a lot of these Easter Eggs in the director’s cut that I think are gonna be fun for everyone.”
