Batman v Superman: Ben Affleck's son too young to see movie says actor

To parents wondering whether or not to let their children see Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, you may want to listen to celebrity dad Ben Affleck. The newly minted Dark Knight said this superhero movie is too scary for his 4-year-old son, Samuel.

“Four years old is a little young to see this whole movie,” Affleck told the AP during an interview. “I don’t want him to have nightmares.”

Producer Charles Roven told EW that “there’s not a lot of blood” in the film, though he clarified “there are some pretty intense scenes.”

While the threatrical cut maintains a PG-13 rating, Warner Bros. is releasing an R-rated “Ultimate Edition” that will drop on home release later this summer. Affleck told EW, “I’m a parent of young kids, and I feel like I wouldn’t want to have a Batman v Superman that I couldn’t show to my younger kids. But on the same token, as an adult, I like to see movies that are R-rated.”

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice features Affleck as the Caped Crusader, Henry Cavill as the Man of Steel, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman. The film, which hits theaters March 25, will lay the DC cinematic universe groundwork for the forthcoming tentpole film, The Justice League — Part 1, due in theaters in Nov. 17, 2017.
