Politics in 2016 continue to be awesome on Thursday night, as Vermont senator Bernie Sanders was a surprise mystery guest on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, where he discussed superdelegates (and then fired a T-shirt cannon).

As part of host Stephen Colbert’s Wheel of News segment, Sanders appeared to implore superdelegates to pay attention to his recent string of victories over Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton.

“No. 1, we have won six out of the last seven caucuses, most of them by landslide victories. I think superdelegates should listen to the will of the people. If you get 60, 70, 80 percent of the vote in a state, you know what, I think superdelegates should vote for us,” he said.

Sanders added, “What we need in the Democratic party is some democracy. That means, I think, when we are defeating Donald Trump in the last polls by 15 or 20 points, and when we are the strongest candidate — I believe — in taking on any Republican candidate, I would hope superdelegates take a look at who the strongest candidate is. And you know what? That’s me.”

Political discussion over, Sanders told Colbert he wanted “to spin that damn wheel,” and then did. It landed on T-shirt cannon, and Sanders happily shot shirts into the Late Show crowd.
