Steven Universe returning in May for four-week event, In Too Deep

Here's something for the people of this world to believe in: Steven Universe will be back this May.

After a long hiatus, a four-week Steven Universe event titled "In Too Deep" will kick off May 12, and EW has the first look at the teaser.

The teaser sees Steven and the Crystal Gems — Garnet, Amethyst, Pearl, and newcomer Peridot — go head-to-head with Malachite, who, as fans may remember, is the hostile fusion of Jasper and Lapis Lazuli. Malachite emerges from her prison at the bottom of the ocean and declares, "I can't wait to tear you gems apart!" The Crystal Gems team up to become Alexandrite, but will they be strong enough to defeat her?

Meanwhile, the threat of the Cluster, which promises to destroy the earth from the inside out, still looms, as well as the possibility of more unwelcome gem visitors after Peridot contacted Yellow Diamond.

The "In Too Deep" event unfolds over five episodes — two back to back during a 30-minute special on May 12, and one per week for the following three weeks. Tune in at 7 p.m. ET/PT on Cartoon Network, and see the teaser below.
