Cartoon Donald Trump tells Stephen Colbert it's all an act

As Donald Trump gets closer and closer to being the presumptive Republican nominee in the 2016 presidential election, his team is trying to rebrand a bit. In fact, Trump adviser Paul Manafort recently told a group of Republicans that Trump’s bluster is really just an act, one that can be dropped for a different kind of professionalism in the White House. To get to the bottom of this, Stephen Colbert brought back his Cartoon Donald Trump for The Late Show on Tuesday.

Cartoon Trump started off as rambunctious as usual, declaring, “I’m knocking down the Republican Party and putting up some condos, woo!” But when Colbert asked about the Manafort comments, Cartoon Trump totally shifted gears, raising his voice an octave and speaking with a more patrician tone. He referred to his public persona as “a bit of razzle-dazzle for the peasants in the cheap seats,” but maintained that he still wanted to deport Mexican immigrants. Cartoon Trump then demonstrated how easily he could flip his switch, from “I’m the greatest character actor of all time, Meryl Streep can kiss my ass” to “Kidding, of course. Meryl’s a friend. Love you, Mer-Bear.”

When Colbert finally asked which version of Trump people would see going forward, Cartoon Trump transformed, Frieza-style, into his actual final form: a monstrous butterfly with a crown saying “president.”
