Oscar-winning actress Alicia Vikander is about to step into some very famous boots: Vikander has signed on to play iconic adventurer Lara Croft in the new adaptation of the Tomb Raider video game series. This new Raider will find a young Croft setting forth on her first adventure.

The latest version of the popular video game is being directed by Roar Uthaug (The Wave) and is being co-produced by MGM, Warner Bros., and GK Films.

Vikander, who won an Academy Award in the best supporting actress category for her role in The Danish Girl at this year’s Oscars ceremony, will next be seen in this summer’s Jason Bourne.

Croft was previously played by Angelina Jolie in a two separate films. The Tomb Raider video game franchise has sold over 45 million copies worldwide since the first installment was launched in 1996.

Back in March, it was reported that Star Wars actress Daisy Ridley had been in discussions to play Croft. “I’m waiting for someone to say ‘I want you, let’s do it,'” Ridley said in a later interview about the rumors.
