Bryan Cranston joins Philip K. Dick adaptation

Bryan Cranston‘s entering the world of sci-fi: The four-time Emmy winner is set to star in and executive-produce a Channel 4 drama based on the late Philip K. Dick’s short stories, the British network announced Tuesday. The 10-part anthology series will be titled Electric Dreams: The World of Philip K. Dick.

“This is an electric dream come true,” Cranston said in a statement. “We are so thrilled to be able to explore and expand upon the evergreen themes found in the incredible work of this literary master.”

Dick’s work has previously been adapted for movies like 1982’s Blade Runner and 2002’s Minority Report, along with 2015 Amazon series The Man in the High Castle.

“I’m thrilled to be working with this exceptional team to bring my father’s short stories to life,” Dick’s daughter Isa Dick Hackett, an executive producer on Electric Dreams, said in a statement. “Often the source for big, high concept feature films, these short stories represent some of the most dazzling conceptual work of his career, and the fact that they will be adapted by such a diverse set of creative voices is truly an honor.”

Battlestar Galactica‘s Ronald D. Moore and Masters of Sex‘s Michael Dinner will serve as executive producers and writers on the series. James Degus, Kalen Egan, Christopher Tricarico, Maril Davis, David Kanter, and Matt DeRoss are also executive-producing.

Electric Dreams will first premiere on Channel 4 and will be distributed internationally by Sony Pictures Television. The series does not yet have an expected release date.
