You'll have to wait a little more than a year for the next Pirates of the Caribbean film, which is slated to hit theaters May 26, 2017, but until then you can immerse yourself in the world of the movies thanks to a new, fan-shot POV video of Shanghai Disneyland's stunning Pirates of the Caribbean: Battle for the Sunken Treasure ride.

With Battle for the Sunken Treasure, the Chinese theme park introduces an entirely new take on the classic Disney attraction, which opened its first version in 1967 at the original Disneyland in Anaheim, California. The ride has since spawned several incarnations at various Disney properties around the world, including Florida's Magic Kingdom, Tokyo Disneyland, and Disneyland Paris.

The Florida, California, and Tokyo versions each underwent a series of modifications beginning in 2006 as Disney added figures from the film series (including Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow) to the ride's classic sets, but Shanghai Disneyland has taken the ride to new level. Battle for the Sunken Treasure is the first version of the ride to be based entirely on the film series, featuring a complex ride system with boats that travel both forward and backward, down several chutes, and through a mixture of live-action sets, animatronic characters, and digital projections. A detailed explanation of the ride's technology (and renderings of the boats themselves) can be found here.

The ride is located in the Treasure Cove section of the park, the first land in the history of Disney Parks exclusively themed to the Pirates of the Caribbean movie universe. Other attractions inside Treasure Cove include Barbossa's Bounty restaurant and a live-action show, Eye of the Storm: Captain Jack's Stunt Spectacular, at the El Teatro Fandango theater.

Shanghai Disneyland officially opens to the public on June 16. Watch a full ride-through of the new Pirates of the Caribbean: Battle for the Sunken Treasure ride in the video above, and check out a few photos from Treasure Cove, taken during the park's soft opening for Disney cast members, below.
