Even though it's against the rules

Now that Donald Trump has chosen Gary Busey, Dennis Rodman or Ivanka Trump as his vice presidential picks (okay, not really), and with the reveal of two other candidates on ScandalSPOILER ALERT it’s time for another hopeful to throw his hat in the ring: Jimmy Kimmel.

During the filming of Thursday’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live, the late-night host announced he was officially running for the second-highest office in the land, bravely disregarding the fact that it’s totally against the rules. Kimmel declared his candidacy with a speech outside his Hollywood Boulevard studio (and a double-decker bus that promoted him as a “good, solid #2”), and soon enough CNN broke in with coverage from some of its anchors, including Wolf Blitzer, which you can see below. Asked if he would build a wall, Kimmel said he would, but on the northern border to “keep the Mexicans out of Canada.” Answering a question about why he was running, Kimmel dutifully noted, “I love this country so much, if it was a woman, I would have sex with it.”

During the show, Kimmel spoke to Scandal team Shonda Rhimes and Kerry Washington about his planned run, hoping for their endorsement. “We’re with her,” the Shondland twosome told Kimmel, a reference to current Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton.

Will Kimmel fare better than fellow late-night host Stephen Colbert did with his 2008 Presidential campaign? You know the answer to that.
