Drake snags a second week atop Billboard's albums chart with Views

Drake enjoyed the Views from the top of the Billboard 200 for a second consecutive week. For the period ending May 12, the Toronto rapper’s fourth studio album moved 313,000 equivalent album units to maintain its No. 1 spot, Billboard reports. Meanwhile, Beyoncé’s Lemonade remained at No. 2 with 202,000 equivalent album units and Radiohead’s A Moon Shaped Pool debuted with 181,000 equivalent album units.

Though Views‘ pure album sales dropped sharply in its second week — from 852,000 to 175,000 — they were still strong enough to make it 2016’s first album to sell a million copies. That’s no small accomplishment in a year that has already included blockbuster releases by Rihanna, Kanye West, and Beyoncé. The only other album to have sold more than a million copies in 2016 is Adele’s late 2015 smash 25. Views is also the first album to score two consecutive weeks atop the Billboard 200 since 25 did so in early March.

Radiohead’s A Moon Shaped Pool sales make it their most successful album since 2003’s Hail to the Thief sold 300,000 copies in its debut week and peaked at No. 3 on the albums chart. Radiohead’s 2007 album In Rainbows peaked at No. 1, while 2011’s The King of Limbs debuted and peaked at No. 3. A Moon Shaped Pool‘s success comes in spite of its release on a Sunday (rather than the typical Friday) and its paltry streaming numbers; only 8,000 of the equivalent album units for Pool, which is unavailable on Spotify, came from streaming.
