Bryan Singer on Deadpool's X-Men jokes

Earlier this year, Deadpool became the highest-grossing film in the X-Men franchise but also took a few shots at the film series, including jokes lobbed at Wolverine.

So what did Bryan Singer, who’s directed four X-Men films, think about Ryan Reynolds’ character mocking the mutants? “I loved it,” says Singer, who also helmed X-Men: Apocalypse, the subject of this week’s EW cover story. “I went to a test screening which was really awkward because half the audience recognized me. I’m sitting there and every time they make a gag about an X-Men movie, I start laughing out loud. I can’t control myself. I keep looking over at Emma [Watts, Fox Production President], and she’s looking at me, like, ‘Are you offended?’ I’m not offended — I think it’s f—ing cool!”
