It’s an epic fight over Texas land!
Jon Voight and James Caan will star as longtime adversaries who battle over Texas homeland in JL Ranch, an original Hallmark Movies & Mysteries film airing this August, EW has learned. Melanie Griffith and Teri Polo will also star.
The movie tells the story of a veteran rancher and former sheriff, John Landsburg (Voight), who is forced to face some federal bureaucracy when an old enemy-cum-millionaire, Tap Peterson (Caan), alleges John doesn’t actually own his beloved family ranch in a small Texas town.
Griffith plays John’s former girlfriend, Laura Lee, who shows up in town when she hears he is having trouble with his land. Polo will depict Rebecca Landsburg — John’s determined, headstrong daughter — who has only remained on the family ranch because she has plans for her own homestead.
Other stars include Grant Bowler as Sheriff Whitlock; Steven Bauer as John’s trusted right-hand man, Hector; and Abby Brammell as John’s daughter, Reagan Higgins, who lives at the ranch with her husband Jerry and their kids.
Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, formerly the Hallmark Movie Channel, relaunched in 2014 and reaches 65.5 million homes.
