It looks like Firehouse 51 is going to remain a very rare house with two female firefighters. Chicago Fire actress Miranda Rae Mayo, who plays Stella Kidd, has been promoted to series regular for season 5, EW has learned.

That news also takes away a bit of the anxiety left after last week's season finale, which concluded with Stella and Severide (Taylor Kinney) climbing into bed as Stella's addict ex-husband Grant (Guy Burnet) sat waiting in the living room with a knife in his hand. Something tells us Severide will be fine in the end as well.

"[It] all leads towards to Severide and Kidd having to take a break," showrunner Matt Olmstead told The Hollywood Reporter, which was first to report Mayo's promotion. "But, all the while, hopefully convincing the audience, as we're convinced, that they're really made for each other."

Mayo's character was first introduced in February.

Chicago Fire will return to NBC for a fifth season in the fall.
