Fresh off the kind of sold-out, record-breaking, and award-winning run that Off Broadway dreams are made of, Dear Evan Hansen is headed to the main stem.

The new musical will make its Broadway debut at a to-be-announced Shubert-owned theater this fall, beginning performances in November 2016.

It’s the third home for the show, which made its world premiere at Washington, DC’s Arena Stage last summer and will end its New York premiere (at Off Broadway’s Second Stage Theatre) on May 29.

The show features a book by Steven Lenvenson, direction by Michael Greif, and an original score by wunderkind composing team Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (Dogfight, A Christmas Story).

Ben Platt — best known to film audiences from the Pitch Perfect films, and to theater crowds from his turn in The Book of Mormon — starred as the titular character, whose life as an outsider is flipped after he writes a pivotal letter that changes the lives of everyone around him. Platt is expected to reprise his role on Broadway, though casting has not yet been confirmed.

The show recently won two Obie Awards, as well as the top Outer Critics Circle award for Outstanding New Off Broadway Musical and the Helen Hayes Award for Outstanding Musical.
