T.J. Miller has entered the game. The star of HBO’s Silicon Valley has hopped aboard Steven Spielberg’s adaptation of Ready Player One, EW confirmed.
The comedian joins a growing and robust cast that touts Tye Sheridan and Olivia Cooke as the leads, along with Simon Pegg, Ben Mendelsohn, and recent Oscar-winner Mark Rylance.
Based on Ernest Cline’s novel, Ready Player One is set in a dystopian not-too-distant future, where a teenager (Sheridan) finds solace in a virtual game. He and other ruthless players wind up competing in a high-stakes treasure hunt inside the walls of that digital world.
Miller will play a message board troll who goes by the handle i-R0k, which sounds like something Erlich Bachman would do.
Warner Bros. is set press ‘start’ on Ready Player One on March 30, 2018.
The Hollywood Reporter first reported the news.
