It would not be summer without The Beach Boys and in celebration of Pet Sounds‘ 50th Anniversary Collectors Edition, which comes out this Friday, EW is excited to premiere a previously unreleased vocal session of the band singing “I Know Theres An Answer,” which appears on the new compilation.

“I thought Mike [Love, the band’s co-founder] and I had a good interaction and he sang very well,” the band’s co-founder Brian Wilson tells EW of the recording. “He listened to my direction and I enjoyed his sense of humor.”

The band — comprised of original members Brian Wilson, Carl Wilson, Dennis Wilson, Mike Love, and Al Jardine — first gained fame in the late ’50s, and in 1966 they released arguably their most beloved album Pet Sounds . The collection included some of their most famous hits like “Wouldn’t It Be Nice” and “God Only Knows.”

Hear the recording session below. Pet Sounds‘ 50th Anniversary Collectors Edition is currently available for pre-order.
