Harry Potter and the Cursed Child gave Mark Hamill goosebumps

The cast of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child was feeling The Force this weekend when Star Wars actor Luke Hamill praised a preview performance of the production he attended in London.

“Blazing theatrical achievement-STUNNING from start 2 finish,” the actor, who’s played Luke Skywalker four times onscreen between 1977 and 2015, tweeted about Cursed Child. “My goosebumps have goosebumps! Will outrun #TheMousetrap.”

Jamie Parker, who plays Harry Potter in the stage show, shared his excitement about Hamill’s attendance. “So apparently Mark Hamill *and* Diane Keaton were in watching the @HPPlayLDN today,” he tweeted. “Let your mash up imagination run wild at that…”

Based on an original story by series author J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child takes place 19 years after the conclusion of the events outlined in the Harry Potter book series. In addition to Parker as Harry, Noma Dumezweni plays Hermione Granger and Paul Thornley plays Ron Weasley among a 42-strong company of featured performers.

The play sees a much older Harry navigating his middle-aged years as an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic. With three children and a wife, Harry now “grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs” as “his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted,” according to the official Cursed Child synopsis.

Hamill will again play Skywalker in the upcoming Star Wars: Episode VIII, directed by Rian Johnson. The film will be released December 17, 2017 with new cast additions including Laura Dern, Benicio Del Toro, and Kelly Marie Tran.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, still in previews, opens to the public July 30 on London’s West End at the Palace Theatre.
