Black-ish stars Tracee Ellis Ross and Anthony Anderson channeled Hamilton Sunday when they hosted the BET Awards at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

Following Beyoncé’s surprise performance, the hosts took the stage in looks pulled from the Broadway hit. “Why does BET have us dressed like people in the Roots?” asked Anderson, referring to HISTORY’s miniseries on slavery.

Keeping with the musical theme, the monologue included a short medley. “Here is a gentle arrangement of 2016’s hottest tracks in the style of Hamilton,” said Ross, ready to burst into song. In the minutes that followed, they sang The Weeknd’s “Can’t Feel My Face,” Rihanna’s “Sex With Me,” and more, with a spin Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda might approve.
