Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll stars tease season 2

FX’s Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll is returning for season 2 on Thursday, and the show’s stars gave EW a taste of what to expect during the ATX TV festival.

“The death of Micki — which is no big secret — our backup singer from the past, at a very young age, kind of throws the entire band into a midlife crisis,” said Denis Leary (Johnny Rock). “We’re all falling apart, and that becomes the through-line for all of season 2.”

Robert Kelly (Bam Bam) added that season 2 is sexier, although Leary clarified that “our big issue was, we’re gonna get sexier, but only if the sex can also be funnier.”

When Elizabeth Gillies said that she sees hope for her character Gigi’s relationship with Flash (John Corbett), Leary added that doesn’t mean an end to anyone’s problems. “Let’s be honest. On this show, if there is gonna be hope, we’re also gonna slice that up a bit with some very dark and twisted goings-on,” Leary explained. “There’s a light at the end of the tunnel, and it’s probably attached to a train. That’s our comedy theory.”
