The Coen Brothers have made so many great movies since 1984’s Blood Simple it is easy to forget the duo’s spare, neo-noir debut still ranks as one of their very best. Now, a trailer for the new 4K restoration of Blood Simple serves as a reminder of the thriller’s many pleasures, from M. Emmet Walsh’s career-best turn as a highly suspect private detective to the fantastic showcasing of the Four Top’s classic tune, “It’s the Same Old Song.”

The restored version of Blood Simple — which also stars Frances McDormand, Dan Hedaya, John Getz, and Samm-Art Williams — opens at Film Forum in New York and at the Alamo New Mission Theater in San Francisco July 1, and at the Landmark Nuart Theatre in Los Angeles, July 29.
