In Carnage Park, actress Ashley Bell plays a character who is first taken as a hostage by a pair of criminals (James Landry Hébert, Michael Villar) and then finds herself being tormented by a deranged sniper (Cheap Thrills star Pat Healy).

Carnage Park is a sniper action-thriller set in the 1970s,” says Bell, who is best known for her starring role in the 2010 horror film, The Last Exorcism. “It’s a hostage situation that goes awry and turns into a Most Dangerous Game. I play Vivian Fontaine, who on that very day is going to try to save her family’s farm, and she gets taken hostage, and has to survive Carnage Park.”

Bell says she was desperate to play the part after reading the script and seeing the cabin-in-the-woods movie Pod, by Carnage Park writer-director Mickey Keating.

“I would go to the end of the world and back for him,” says Bell of Keating, who has also cast the actress in his upcoming movie, Psychopaths. “I met him, and I had just seen Pod, and I was so impressed by how he transformed that space, how he created that tension, how claustrophobic that film was, and also all the performance in that, how it had that beautiful even-hand. Already, from the [Carnage Park] script, I was hooked. I flew through it that and I became a very awkward actress, scheming how to be in this movie, and how to work with this director.”

Carnage Park opens Friday at New York’s IFC Center and arrives July 8 in Los Angeles at Laemmle’s Noho 7. The film is also now available to watch on VOD and via digital platforms.
