A little over three years since the Boston Marathon bombing, Hollywood is gearing up to release the first of two planned features revolving around the tragedy, as CBS Films unveiled a teaser poster for its upcoming drama Patriots Dayon Wednesday.

The new, minimal poster shows red, white, and blue shoe laces arranged in the shape of an American flag. Academy Award-nominee Mark Wahlberg toplines the film as Police Sergeant Tommy Saunders, who joins the massive manhunt for the brothers responsible for detonating two bombs at the annual Boston Marathon, which killed three people in April 2013. While the film recounts the events of the bombing itself, it also explores the actions of the “everyday heroes who inspired the world in the extraordinary hours that followed,” according to its official synopsis.

Supporting cast members include John Goodman as Police Commissioner Ed Davis, Kevin Bacon as Special Agent Richard Deslauriers, Michelle Monaghan as a nurse, Carol Saunders, and Oscar-winner J.K. Simmons as Sergeant Jeffrey Pugliese. Former The Naked Brothers Band star Alex Wolff and Supergirl‘s Melissa Benoist have also joined the film as the younger of the sibling bombers, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, and the wife of the elder brother, respectively.

Peter Berg (Lone Survivor, Friday Night Lights) directs from a screenplay he wrote with Matt Cook (Triple 9), Oscar-nominee Matt Charman (Bridge of Spies), and Paul Tamasy Eric Johnson (The Fighter).

Patriots Day is set for a limited release in New York, Los Angeles, and Boston on Dec. 21, 2016, ahead of a nationwide release on Jan. 13, 2017. Check out the new poster for the film, below.
