“Sinners.”

Writer-director Ti West has sent tingles of fear down the spines of audiences with films like The House of the Devil and The Innkeepers. But his new movie In a Valley Of Violence sends viewers back to the Old West for a tale of vengeance and mayhem.

The film stars Ethan Hawke as a mysterious drifter named Paul who, together with his dog Abbie, finds himself in a nearly abandoned mining town, controlled by John Travolta’s Marshal and his looking-for-trouble son, Gilly (James Ransone). As tensions rise between Paul and Gilly, the town’s few remaining residents witness an act of violence that starts a disastrous chain reaction, infecting the lives of all involved.
