The Flash movie adds Dope actress Kiersey Clemons as female lead

Warner Bros.’ superhero movie The Flash is picking up speed with the addition of Kiersey Clemons.

The 22-year-old actress and singer, best known for her role as Diggy in the coming-of-age dramedy Dope, has closed a deal to play the female lead in the DC Comics adaptation, EW has learned.

Clemons will star opposite Ezra Miller, who is set to play the Scarlet Speedster and his civilian counterpart, Barry Allen. Miller made his debut as the Flash with a cameo in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and he’s also on board for Justice League, which just unveiled its first trailer at Comic-Con.

The Flash will mark a reunion between Clemons and Dope director Rick Famuyiwa, who took over the WB project after Seth Grahame-Smith exited over creative differences. Grahame-Smith’s screenplay will still be used for the film, which is expected to start shooting sometime this year. The Flash is scheduled to arrive March 16, 2018.

Clemons was recently seen in Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising, and her other upcoming film projects include Sony’s Flatliners reboot and the indie comedy Little Bitches.
