Here’s a spoonful of sugar: Meryl Streep is in talks to join Mary Poppins Returns at Disney, EW has learned.

The three-time Oscar winner would play the supporting role of Topsy, the cousin of the titular nanny (Emily Blunt). Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda is also on board as Jack, a street lamplighter.

The new story will take place in Depression-era London and follows a now-grown-up Jane and Michael Banks, who, along with Michael’s three children, are visited by Poppins following a personal loss. She and her friend Jack then help the family rediscover the joy and wonder missing in their lives.

Should Streep officially sign on to Mary Poppins Returns, it would reunite her with the team behind Disney’s take on Into the Woods. Like the 2014 musical, Mary Poppins Returns will be directed by Rob Marshall and produced by Marshall, John DeLuca, and Marc Platt.

Mary Poppins Returns is scheduled for a Dec. 25, 2018 release.

Variety first reported the news.
