Aquarius pushed to Saturdays, renewal chances tough

The ’60s roll on, but history repeats itself: Aquarius is moving back to Saturdays.

The second season of David Duchovny’s Charles Manson drama, which has been airing Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET, will finish its run on Saturday nights, NBC Entertainment president Jennifer Salke confirmed Tuesday at the Television Critics Association summer press tour in Los Angeles. The series also jumped from Thursdays to Saturdays midway through its first season.

Showrunner John McNamara tweeted about the schedule change, declaring, “We’ve survived this once… and will again.”

“We’re still supporting the show obviously,” Salke said at TCA. “David and the talent involved are really important to us. We’ll continue to support the show wherever we put it. We do have to make some schedule changes, but the show’s not being pulled off the schedule.”

When asked about the chances of a season 3 renewal, Salke replied, “I think that’s tough.”

Aquarius returns Aug. 27.
