As the South Park: Fractured But Whole video game inches closer to its December release, you’ve surely wondered: “This game sounds cool, but has there been any sort of technological breakthrough that would allow me to smell the farts that I lay on the screen during gameplay?”

There totally is, and it involves a VR mask system that will pipe that malodorous aroma right up your nose when you drop bombs as the new kid. On Friday, Ubisoft revealed the device — an Oculus Rift riff called Nosulus Rift that you strap to your face — with a spoof-y, lofty video that details the rigorous development process of the technology, as well as testimonial from a gamer who raves: “The fart stinks so real. Best immersive experience ever… It was exactly as if someone had farted right in my face. I was like, ‘Holy s—! Is this a real fart?”

And now you’re probably asking: Is this for real? It butt-hurts us to say that you can’t buy Nosulus Rift, at least at this time. But you can see if it passes the smell test at Gamescom. Or you can just simulate it for free at home by playing the game after consuming a tub of broccoli hummus.

Fractured But Whole, a sequel to The Stick of Truth, hits stores on Dec. 6, while season 20 of South Park, a sequel to season 19, hits Comedy Central on Sept. 14.[youtube http://youtu.be/22KZBhrksbk]
