Michelle Branch's The Spirit Room turns 15

Michelle Branch was “Everywhere” in the summer of 2001. The singer-songwriter dropped the single in July of that year, a track that peaked at No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song appeared on her major-label debut album, The Spirit Room, which turned 15 on Sunday.

“Just realized- this album is 15 years old today! What?! Little did that girl know her life was about to change,” she wrote in an Instagram post of the album cover, a shot of Branch looking back at the camera over her shoulder, a dusky skyline in the distance. “My belt said #promqueen #neverwenttoprom.”

The Spirit Room struck platinum 10 years after its release in 2011. Branch released another solo album in 2003, Hotel Paper, before teaming up with Jessica Harp to form the short-lived country duo, The Wreckers.

Branch most recently released Everything Comes and Goes, a six-song EP, in 2010. In May, she appeared on Full Frontal With Samantha Bee to sing a parody of her song “Goodbye to You” to signal the end of Sen. Ted Cruz’s presidential bid.
