Simone Biles posts sweet throwback with Laurie Hernandez before beam final

Gymnast Simone Biles is officially the social media darling of the 2016 Summer Olympics: The gold medalist has been warming hearts since the games began in Rio between her Twitter conversations with Zac Efron and photo ops with fellow Olympian Simone Manuel, and Monday, she posted a sweet photo of her and teammate — and fellow gold medalist — Laurie Hernandez.

“Funny thing is back then we never thought we would be competing at the Olympics. Crazy how things happen, so excited to be competing in Beam Finals today with this girl,” Biles wrote on Instagram. The post features a photo of the girls when they were younger and another one of them currently in Rio.

Both gymnasts will be competing Monday in the balance beam event finals. See the photo below.
