Tove Lo debuts lawless 'Cool Girl' video

Two days after announcing her second album, Lady Wood, Tove Lo has shared the first video from the project: a lawless take for lead single “Cool Girl.”

The visual builds upon the song’s Gone Girl-inspired lyricism, featuring the Swedish singer as she burns down a motel room, buries someone alive, and dances through a desert parking lot with a band of fugitives in tow.

The video serves as the first installment of a short film project, titled Fairy Dust, made to accompany her impending record. The last 10 seconds of the “Cool Girl” clip tease a destructive car crash and steamy hook ups ahead. Tim Erem, who also directed Tove Lo’s Nick Jonas collab “Close,” helmed the project.

“[Fairy Dust] is about all of the beauty and darkness that comes with chasing rushes,” Tove Lo said in a release.

Lady Wood is due out Oct. 28, and Fairy Dust will follow later this year. Beginning Sept. 3, Tove Lo will serve as direct support for Maroon 5’s fall arena tour. She last released 2014’s Queen of the Clouds, her debut effort that spawned Top 15 hits “Habits (Stay High)” and “Talking Body.”
