Nathan Darrow is trading in his White House-appropriate suit for flannel and jeans when he joins Rectify in its upcoming fourth and final season.

The actor, who previously starred on Netflix political drama House of Cards and has also appeared on Gotham and Billions, will be playing Billy Harris, a Paulie local who grew up with Amantha (Abigail Spencer) and is trying to figure out what he wants in life. “Billy’s a guy in a certain part of his 30s where he starts to identify what he wants in life and take stock of mistakes and then starts to take steps to make the life that he wants,” Darrow tells EW.

And the life that he wants might include Amantha, according to an exclusive photo from the Sundance drama that sees the two meeting at Thrifty Town, the local grocery store where she works.

“We share a delightful time in Thrifty Town,” he teases. “But Amantha is a person that’s got a pretty tough shell, so it’s not just popcorn and reminiscing.”

Amantha’s tough shell is understandable: The show revolves around Daniel (Aden Young), her brother, getting off death row for a murder he might or might not have committed, and how he and his family deal with his newfound freedom. The third season ended with him moving into a house for ex-convicts in Nashville after being banished from Georgia as part of his plea deal while the rest of his family stayed behind.

“The characters all seem to get a little more clarity about what their way forward might be,” Darrow says of the new season. “They all seem more ready to take up the challenges of their lives as opposed to deflecting those questions.”

Find out what he means when Rectify returns Wednesday, Oct. 26 on Sundance, and get a glimpse of his Thrifty Town date with Amantha in the photo above.
