Those who think they’ve seen everything the zombie genre has to offer, have likely yet to watch Yeon Sang-ho’s Train to Busan, a terrifying and gory romp-on-rails that gives the likes of 28 Days Later and The Walking Dead a run for their money.

Speaking of money, after premiering at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival in May, Train to Busan has already become one of the most successful foreign films of the year, grossing $79.5 million in South Korea alone ahead of opening in limited release on screens across North America. The film follows a group of passengers on a high-speed train headed from Seoul to Busan tasked with fighting for their lives as a zombie apocalypse breaks out around them.

In his B+ review, EW’s Clark Collis notes the film borrows heavily from Marc Forster’s World War Z, though it’s ultimately worthwhile thanks to an additional “emotional core the Brad Pitt-starring extravaganza often lacked.”

Train to Busan is now playing in theaters.

The Light Between Oceans

A trio of Oscar-verified talent (two winners in Alicia Vikander and Rachel Weisz, one two-time nominee in Michael Fassbender) acts in this prestige weeper from acclaimed director Derek Cianfrance. After breaking hearts (and earning serious critical praise) with his emotionally taxing 2010 drama Blue Valentine, and its 2012 follow-up, The Place Beyond the Pines, Cianfrance returns with a beautiful tale of a coastal couple who raise a child after the young girl washes ashore in an abandoned boat.

Atlanta

He lasted five seasons on Community, and has made sporadic appearances on other TV shows since his days playing Troy on the NBC comedy, but on Sept. 6, Donald Glover makes his regular series return on Atlanta, the new FX program which he created, toplines, and executive-produces. The series blends comedy and drama as it revolves around two Georgia-based rappers navigating their way through the choppy waters of the Atlanta rap scene, attempting to better the lives of their family and achieve their dreams at the same time, making the series the perfect stage upon which Glover’s musical charm (he raps, in real life, under the name Childish Gambino) can shine.

Atlanta premieres Sept. 6 at 10 p.m. ET on FX.

Mr. Robot: 1.51exfiltratiOn

If you’re a fan of the USA Network’s thriller series, you need to get your hands on Mr. Robot: 1.51exfiltratiOn, Telltale Games’ mobile app that transports your smart phone’s interface into the world of the show… almost.

In the game, you play an unwitting soul who finds an abandoned burner phone on the ground in Coney Island. It turns out the device once belonged to a hacker, and you begin to exchange a series of fateful messages with others on your way to becoming an ace hacker, liar, and manipulator all on your own. The action unfolds almost entirely in text messages, heightening the sense of reality as you make your way through the game’s addicting challenges that feel as if they’re lifted straight out of the hit series’ first season.

American Ninja Warrior

Now that the Rio Olympics are over, where can you turn for your weekly fix of physical competition? American Ninja Warrior, of course. Finalists vie for the championship spot atop Mount Midoriyama as the reality series nears the end of its eighth season this month. With 28 new obstacles to overcome on the way toward and a $1 million prize, this season’s competitors face higher stakes and greater challenges than ever before.
