Nearly four months after signing off Live! With Kelly and Michael, former show co-host Michael Strahan made his debut on Good Morning America on Tuesday morning.

For his first appearance, Strahan was seated next to GMA co-hosts Robin Roberts and George Stephanopoulos at the anchor desk.

“It is great to have you full-time with us,” Roberts said after Strahan’s introduction. “It does feel like the first day of school around here, doesn’t it?”

“The only thing I’m missing is my Spider-man lunch box,” Strahan joked.

The former NFL superstar had appeared previously on GMA as a contributing anchor while also co-hosting Live! with Kelly Ripa. In April, it was announced Strahan was leaving his post on Live! for the GMA anchor position, a move that caught Ripa by surprise. The Live! co-host stepped away from the show for a “previously scheduled vacation,” and was reportedly “blindsided” by the Strahan announcement. When she returned to her seat opposite Strahan, Ripa said she “gained perspective” from the break. “I always speak from my heart. I didn’t want to come out here and say something I will regret,” she said during the return broadcast. “This started a much greater conversation about communication and consideration and most importantly respect in the workplace.” ABC apologized to Ripa for the way Strahan’s promotion was announced.

Strahan officially left Live! on May 13. “I didn’t know what to expect coming from sports to daytime television,” Strahan said during his final show. “And you guys opened up your hearts to me, you opened up your homes to me. It’s been so overwhelming with the response that we’ve had over the last four years that you guys have loved this show. It means the world that you give us an hour of your day.”
