Danny DeVito making Broadway debut in Arthur Miller's The Price

Danny DeVito is set to make his Broadway debut in Arthur Miller’s The Price, choosing one of Arthur Miller’s trademark intense dramas for his first Broadway turn.

DeVito will play Gregory Solomon, joining the previously announced cast of John Turturro (Victor Franz), Tony Shalhoub (Walter Franz), and Jessica Hecht (Esther Franz). Terry Kinney will direct the limited engagement, which will be presented at Roundabout Theatre Company’s American Airlines Theatre.

Miller’s drama follows Victor Franz, who gave up his dream of having an education to support his father after the family lost everything in the Great Depression. The play picks up three decades later as Victor goes back to his childhood home to sell what’s left. Also present for this homecoming are his wife Esther, his estranged brother Walter, and sleazy furniture dealer Gregory. Victor’s return to the house forces him to address his past sacrifice.

Danny DeVito began his career performing in Off-Broadway productions and in Shakespeare in the Park. In 2012, he appeared on stage on the West End in Neil Simon’s The Sunshine Boys.

The Price begins previews on Feb. 16 and opens on March 16, closing May 7.
