'Ordinary World' trailer: Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong is adjusting to the real world

Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong has a handful of acting credits to his name, including voicing himself in The Simpsons Movie and playing himself in This is 40. Now he takes the leading-man spotlight as the first trailer for the film Ordinary World debuts.

Armstrong plays a former punk rocker who’s having trouble adjusting to the real world of the real world of fatherhood and working at a hardware store. When his wife and daughter forget his 40th birthday, his brother gives him money to throw an epic rocker rager in a New York hotel. The night brings out former bandmates, his old manager, and the chance to restart his musical career.

Written and directed by Lee Kirk (The Great Mechanical Man), Ordinary World features original music by Armstrong, including the title track. You can hear a snippet of “Ordinary World” at the end of the trailer (shown above).

The film will be released in theaters and on digital HD and on demand beginning Oct. 14.
