Aziz Ansari — now, Emmy Award winner Aziz Ansari — didn’t get a chance to give an acceptance speech when he and Alan Yang won for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series for Master of None at the 68th Emmy Awards. So, the Parks and Rec alum took to Instagram to give a quick shoutout to his dates to the award show: his parents.

Ansari later took the stage again to present an award, joking that his dad was upset by the snub and waving to them in the audience.
Ansari and Yang won their writing Emmy for the critically acclaimed epsiode “Parents,” which featured Aziz’s parents as guest stars. Fatima and Shoukath played Dev’s (Ansari) parents Nisha and Ramesh, respectively.
