Good Girls Revolt: Grace Gummer plays young Nora Ephron in first trailer

The debut trailer for Amazon's Good Girls Revolt brings the power of the fledgling "Women in Revolt" movement of the 1960s to the small screen.

The new series, created by Narcos writer and producer Dana Calvo, follows a group of women working at the fictional News of the Week magazine (it's name not all that different from the actual magazine where these real events took place) in the midst of the swinging '60s. Based on the Lynn Povich book of the same name, the rise of author Nora Ephron and several other women through the male-dominated journalism field centers the upcoming series. Played by Grace Gummer, Ephron works beneath News of the Week editor William "Willie" McFadden (Jim Belushi), who makes it clear that women only serve as assistants or researchers. Jane (Anna Camp) is also attempting to rise through the ranks as a working woman, but her only allowance is running for coffee.

Fellow researchers Patti (Genevieve Angelson) and Cindy (Erin Darke) take the sexism into their own hands, connecting with future U.S. Congress delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton (Joy Bryant) to seek legal statute against their employers.

Povich's 2013 novel illuminated the gender segregation and Mad Men office culture's sexual stereotyping and segregation through personal experiences.

Good Girls Revolt premieres its entire first season for streaming Oct. 28 on Amazon.
